Also, messages can be bursty as most API scrapers run every 5 minutes. Systems (Bugzilla, MediaWiki, Mercurial, GitHub, etc) are being instrumented to make the messages instant.

There should be a heartbeat message that fires once a minute though.

This is node.js talking with RabbitMQ via AMQP, delivering it to the browser using socket.io (potentially over WebSockets) with the client HTML served by django.
